Domesticraft + You = Accountabilibuddies

The term is a blending of “accountability” and “buddy”.

A person who assists another in keeping them responsible for their actions and to prevent them from doing certain things.

  An accountabilibuddy is one who keeps another accountable in their actions. The relationship is usually mutual, in that the two (or more ie: buddies ) people are accountability partners for each other.   Further, such a relationship requires that the people be close, like us. :o)  Thus, the more informal term “accountabilibuddy” is more suitable to convey the close friendship in addition to the aspect of accountability.
 
My sister, Carol, is my business and life accountabilibuddy.  So is my husband, my daughters and my friends.  (shhhh . . . some of them don't even know it!)

I am now making you my official online accountabilibuddy.  Woot!

Welcome to the club!

I am writing to you on my blog so that you will hold me accountable, because I am a huge Procraftinator!  I am not exactly sure if this is a true word like accountabilibuddy, however it suits me to a tee.  I get sidetracked numerous times a day, I mean really a lot!  I got sidetracked writing this post, a lot!  I know that it is the curse of the creative or the multi-passionate, as my sister likes to be thought of as.  Ain't that right, Sis?
It really is a pretty awesome way to be and I feel super blessed, BUT I need to stay focused with the task at hand.  2015 and all that stuff is coming at me like a rocket and there's me, getting all distracted by the paper airplane flitting by. 
(One last sister reference.  She would say, SQUIRREL" every time she caught me straying.  She said it A LOT, hence this blog post)

So, this is what I need help with today.  My elevator pitch.  My "What the heck am I?"  This was SO hard for me to nail down.  I think I've got it now, though.  Keep it simple, right?  This is how is plays out in the proverbial elevator. 

The pitch:

Hi, I’m an inquisitive stranger.  My name is Need To Know.  What do you do?

Hi, Inq.  My name is Nancy,  I'm a creative . . .  

Uhhhh . . . What does that mean, Nancy? (Inq. butted in before I finished)

 . . . I design, make, photograph, share, teach and sell cute stuff.

Is that good enough?  It at least starts a conversation and gets me in my comfort zone where I could talk for hours, like if they wanted me to do the Martha Stewart Show or a CreativeLive .com course.  Hmmm . . .  

This post ties in with the one on my re-launch last week, in case ya missed it!  No more hiding out for me, right accountabilibuddy?

Life is Messy Kitchen Cooking: Domesticraft Style

Finally, I finished the photo shoot for my blog post about Mayi Carles's Life is Messy Kitchen Cookbook!  This post is picture HEAVY, so I'll keep my chat to a bare minimum.  I see you rolling your eyes, don't think I don't, Missy!  I spent the WHOLE DAY doing this, not just for Mayi and cause I love her & she's awesome and talented and very inspiring . . .

I'm doing Mayi's challenge TOMORROW!  I'm tidying up the kitchen here at my sister's house.  Her kitchen is actually always tidy, it's my craft chaos throw-up all over her counters and table, that I'm having to clean up!  

Sorry, Sis . . . I know you gave me a whole studio to craft in, but it's so pretty that I prefer to keep it clean and use all but 2 feet of space at the end of the counter bar.  (That's how much room I left her)

NEXT UP . . .

2.  The re-branding of Domesticraft!  TA-DA!  It has been a bit of a struggle with the whole "downsizing, will these boxes and suitcases ever end??" and walking around like I was on a boat drifting at sea, having to jettison so, so much!  Well, it was just what I needed!  And then, about two thirds of the way done getting the apartment in order, I abandoned my hubs for four weeks!  (with his blessing of course)  So instead of thinking of the downsizing as an ending of sorts, I now call it a fresh beginning!  And who doesn't love that?

I'm in my last week of  visiting at my little sister's house in super, sunny Scottsdale, Arizona!  The weather has been amazing and I so get why peeps would want to live here . . . at least at this time of year!  I've had complete freedom to craft and chat and brainstorm and eat popcorn and m&m's to my heart's content!  CRAFT CHICK BLISS!

I can't even begin to tell you what an awesome time I've had!  So, here's what I came up with and it feels RIGHT . . .  cause I stay up late planning it and wake up early thinking about it!  I am chomping at the bit to get started, ya know?   I'm looking at an official launch date of January 1, 2015!  I've got so much I can't wait to share with you!  Do you have any ideas for me?  I would love your input!  And in case I haven't mentioned it or for some reason you didn't notice . . . I AM SO FLIPPIN' EXCITED!

Also, did you happen to notice my new blog header?  Go ahead, I'll give you a minute to scroll up and check it out.   Stay as long as you like, I so hope you like it! :)  Oh, you're back . . .man, that was fun to do!  I'd forgotten how much I love drawing with my mouse!  I've been going down a lot of rabbit holes with my little mouse lately.
