T. Golden Rex Presents: A present for you!!

ON BEING PRESENT and ACCOUNTABLE

That is my action phrase for 2015 . . . Present and Accountable.  I've been thinking about it a lot lately.  I needed something to help me with my focus when I get overwhelmed or even underwhelmed, you know like when you just ain't feelin' it, but you need to deliver on what you said you were going to do?

When I say present, I mean:  living in the moment, in the now, you know THE present.  Enjoying and taking care of my life, which includes my religion, my family and myself.  Myself includes my business and my friends and  so much more.  Counting my blessings. A LOT!  Giving thanks.  Giving back.  Helping. Listening. Caring.  None of us are guaranteed any more time beyond right now.  I need to remember that and this word I've assigned for the year, "Present" will help.

The word accountable  is to remind me further, that my actions or lack thereof, have consequences . . . whether it be good or bad.  I am accountable to Allah (God) first, then myself and my family AND all the responsibilities and wonderfulness that comes with this life.

You have been such a lovely part of my life this last half of 2014, that I wanted to give you a present.  I wish I could give everybody a present.  I really wish I could just be in the biz of giving presents, ya know?  Oh, and being paid to curate Pinterest Boards one day a week and then paid so well that it would sustain all my crafty needs and desires and present giving too!  Until that happens, and I'm not giving up on that idea for one minute, I have one pair  of lovely "present" earrings to present you with.

My sister, Carol donated these earrings for my giveaway!  Is she not AWESOME.  Yes, indeed she is!  I got to spend 4 weeks at her house this past November and let me tell you I had the best crafty time EVAH!  She actually put together a craft/sewing room for me with the most comfortable bed and pillow, again . . . EVAH!  She let me take over her kitchen and practically every available space to do as many photo shoots as I wanted!  That's where I did the T. Golden Rex shoot and a fun jewelry shoot with her gorgeous jewelry!

She runs a lovely shop on Etsy called The Jewel Lady and she makes some unique, handcrafted BLING!  I'm talking some serious stunning Swarovski Crystal  and Cat’s Eye bead creations.  Check her out and discover why she is called The Jewel Lady. Oh, and tell her I sent you and I'll make sure you get the "family" discount! ;)

That's it, my friend.  Now all you have to do is look at the pretty pictures and ooooh and awwww and then leave a equally pretty comment or maybe you have a word or phrase for 2015, that you are going to focus on.  Let me know in the comment section below!  You will then be entered to win these beautiful earrings.  Oh, I almost forgot!  Thank YOU for your present to me!  You are AWESOME!  T. Golden Rex thinks so too!

  4. You ARE Present and Accountable... just look at what you are doing!

The earrings are fabulous! They lead my imagination to wonder what they might hold. Wait... wait, it is coming to me. Yes! They hold messages for all of us in 2015. One holds, "Moving forward and climbing the ladder of business success!" The other, "Reach for the stars!"

    You've got this... here's to 2015!

  5. I love your phrase so much! Last year I was supposed to FOCUS - and I didn't. Not really I realized that I haf most focus trying to go after too many things. I wonder if I can get a do over? I've been trying to think of a new word for 2015 - but I got nothing. Love your photos. So holiday and winter wonderland and you were in the desert! And tell your sis her jewelry is just adorable!

  6. It's a good phrase, right? You could totally use it too, if it works for you! I don't own it, although that's exactly what I plan to do! :) Dana, I was like that too this year, so many things I wanted to do and try. Still am and probably always will be, it's just how I'm wired. ;) Just got to organize it, be present, be accountable and be a grown up boss for my business! I look forward to being accountabilibuddies with you and kicking some major business butt in 2015!

  7. The earrings are gorgeous! My new theme is encouragement, also: showing me, rather than hiding me, giving value, sharing my art more (letting go of expectation)

  8. Hi, Vivayne!

They really are pretty, aren't they? My sister does some amazing bling creating!! ♡

I love that word too! Encouragement! Can we have three? Yep, I am adding that to my list! I love encouraging others, cause invariably it also encourages me! It's always a win-win!

And yes! Share, girl! Put it out there! Let yourself shine! Get out of your own way!! Your stuff is awesome! ♡ DO IT! :)

  9. Love it!! I have tried a word/phrase for the year, but I haven't been very good about doing it. Maybe 2015 is the year for me?!... (I spent 2014 trying to recover from 2013. Long story.....)

  10. Hey, Shauna!

So are you going to keep the same word or add a word or two or go with something completely different? If you read the comment above, you will see I added one more word. Encouragement!

I hereby encourage you!! :) I think T. Golden Rex needs to make a reappearance and announce this, eh? Can't wait to hear what your word(s) is going to be! :)

  11. This is one of my all time most favorite posts Nancy! Not just because I LOVE Bling.....but this one touched my heart and got me to thinking about PRIORITIES.....in a good way. :) #1 word for me is JOY. I also like the word PERMISSION. I think us crafty type peeps need to give ourselves Permission NOT be perfect (or perfect)....to take the occasional day off (guilt-free) to regenerate and play.....etc. etc. You can fill in the blanks ;) Thank you for the message in this blog ♡

    1. Hi, Sis!

Been thinking a lot about my action words, probably more so than in my entire life!

I think you hit the nail on the head and it keeps coming back to that. Permission. Be a good boss to ourselves. Follow our own advice, right? Love you girl, thanks for helping me keep it real. ♡

  12. Sigh... My word for the year IS focus. It is lamentably the same word I've had the past 3 years. I'm keeping it until I get it right. Although today it dawned on me-that I go through life just like Dory from "Finding Nemo". Maybe that's just who I am and I need to learn to embrace it. What needs to get done always gets done-albeit rather haphazardly.
Not a bling kind of girl-having 4 boys does that to you. I'm here for the encouragement. I find your enthusiasm contagious and inspiring. Go get 'em!

    1. Thanks for making me smile, Beth!

I've been thinking about that a lot lately too. I think women are to flippin' hard on themselves! We don't see all the accomplishments and cool things that we do every single day!

My sister and I started doing a to-do list for the day AND a TA-DA list at the end of the day! End the day thinking about all all the positive moments and happenings of the day instead of focusing on all the STUFF we didn't do or finish or whatever. We might not wake up in the morning, there is only now that we have. We need to live and get joy from this very moment. You, my friend. are a blessing. Thanks for helping me sort that out!

  13. All the best to you in the new year!! Love these earrings, so beautiful and sparkly! My theme for the year is GENUINE. I am also starting an art journal based on my theme. I will be turning to you for inspiration!

  14. Thank you, Jeanelle!

Do you think we might be related? :) My Mom's maiden name was Lund. Hmmmm . . .

Those earrings are gorgeous! My sister sure knows her bling!

I like the word you chose, genuine. I went with that word when I started this blog, cause who could maintain a blog otherwise. So as corny or wordy or whatever I am, that's what you'll get! And I'm so amazed and touched at the thoughtfulness and love that you ladies have responded with in the comments of my blog. As my Grandma used to say . . . You are out of this world!! ♡

You're going have to share yourwork on you art journal, I'd love to see your progress! ♡
