Can you ever have enough WASHI TAPE? 15 images that answer that elusive question for some!

15 new images on Domesticraft's Insta-Styled Stock Library shelves!

Seriously?  What kind of question is that even?  Silly, that's what kind!  If you have to ask, that simply means you don't know about it.  Since washi tape came onto the market in 2006 and shows NO sign of slowing down in popularity, let me tell what all the hubbub is about.

Washi tape, also know as Japanese masking tape, is made from paper.  It originates in Japan and is made from natural fibers.  Here is a blurb from Wikipedia for you more scholarly types:

Washi (和紙?) is a style of paper that was first made in Japan. Washi is commonly made using fibers from the bark of the gampi tree, the mitsumata shrub (Edgeworthia chrysantha), or the paper mulberry, but also can be made using bamboo, hemp, rice, and wheat. The word "washi" comes from wa 'Japanese' and shi 'paper', and the term is used to describe paper made by hand in the traditional manner.[1] Washi is one of the UNESCO’s Intangible cultural heritage objects.[2]

There are varying thicknesses and strengths, but usually for your every day crafter it is a rather thin, sometimes translucent paper with a low tack adhesive which makes it a joy to play with!

Despite it's seeming "delicateness", it is a strong and super versatile tape.  And on top of all that, it has an innate power to make just about any crafter swoon and sigh like few other things do.  Just sayin'. ;)

It comes in an unending array of patterns and colors!  I mean it!  Unending!  If you are a paper crafter or a sewer, you know that there is also no end to new paper or fabric design collections.  It is AMAZING!  It's like an adult crafter's version of a candy store and it can be dangerous!  You've been warned! ;)

I have stopped buying it, not because I have enough, because . . . DUH, NOT POSSIBLE!  But I have been on a craft buying moratorium for over a year now.  (except for a visit to my sister last year, not my latest visit!)  And by the look of my supplies, you would never know it! :)  I think I need to have a blow-out stash sale, what do you think?

Did I mention how versatile it is?   The low tack adhesive and thinness make it so much fun and easy to use.  You can even reuse it!  Reposition it as needed too!  I especially love that part, I kind of change my mind a lot!

Oh, and might I add, you can tear it with ease.  I love the raggedy edge look, like on the book above.  However you can, of course, cut the tape as well!  I love cutting them into shapes into different shapes like I did for the little mini-banner below!

The above washi tape I used to cover bandaids!  So cute!!

Just a very few of the gazillion patterns and sizes above!

Yep, that is a strip of washi tape on the front of the little mini easel above!

And washi tape, HANDS DOWN, is one of the cutest and most popular photo props EVER!
